Spauldings at the Pancake House

Chris, Susan, Sachi, and Kenzo were in town and we met for breakfast with Rob and felt so pleased with our Spaulding family.

Outside the law?

"Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) said he plans to propose next week, as part of a spending bill for executive operations, a measure to place a hold on funds for Cheney's office and official home until he clarifies to which branch of the government he belongs. Emanuel acknowledged that the proposal is just a stunt, but he said that if Cheney is not part of the executive branch, he should not receive its funds. "As we say in Chicago, follow the money," he said."

Prairie Dog Haven

This former farm in Colorado is where our horses, Max and Jim, were boarded before we found them. Now it is just Prairie Dogs.

Notice Dan on the phone

At the Boulder Bolder race Dan had a call come from his friend in Israel. Imagine that! This is such a small world. We need to take good care of it.

King Estates Winery in Lorane

We drove to our old neighborhood this morning to have coffee with our friends. It was good to see folks we hadn't seen in a long time. Afterward we went to the winery and tried our their lunch menu. Linn had an interesting dish of poached eggs on pureed spinach and I had grilled salmon over vegetables. Delicious! The view of the Lorane Valley is beautiful from the winery.

Yesterday in front of Theo's

This flower was so lovely I wanted to take a picture just outside of our coffee place as I was locking up my bike.

Running the Boulder Bolder

Here is Linn after about a mile or so in the 6.2 mile race behind the guy in the yellow shirt, next to Dan. He did well. He finished. He had a great time though it was not easy but he was exhilerated for having completed the 10K race.

Tom and Jane

With Tom and Jane we have 8 family members together. A rare event. Tomorrow is the Boulder Bolder 10K. Linn, Tom, Jane, Sarah and Dan are running. Chris will try to get some photos at the Boulderado Hotel corner. Kaia and I will try for some photos, too. We will try to get to the stadium to see some of the racers finishing and meet our group.

Our good friends

Lee Todd was our neighbor on Lookout Mountain in Colorado. Her sons are Vince and Ger. We had lunch together today in at Boulder Dushanbe Tea House and had a lively discussion on religion, politics and the state of the world. Some of Linn's and my fondest memories are of backpacking with Lee and Clem when he was alive.

Alas, a flicker few into the window

The glass reflected the sky and this beautiful creature tried to fly through. Sarah is going to put up a black pattern of a hawk on that window to warn birds.

The best Fish Place

Newman's has good take-out fish. Yesterday we had the special, fried oysters with extra fish plus coleslaw and no French fries, all for about $7 which was a delicious dinner for the two of us. The wisteria is awesome now.
